I had to blog on this while it was fresh in my head. wearethemarket.com posted on their blog about Meggings,which are leggings for Men. This was listed under Trendwatch for spring. My first reaction was laughter and then more laughter. I think this whole androgeny thing is getting out of control. Meggings on the runway, eye catching and funny... Meggings in real life, um I don't know. But, There are some pretty styish and fashion forward guys in SLC that maybe could pull it off. I am interested to see what will come of this trend and if it will develop in SLC. So, maybe this is a challenge to the guys out in SLC... and the list goes on. I found h(y)r collective magazine through a reference from the Blackbird blog. Long story short, I love this site!!! It is the complete package of great articles, great taste in music and tell it like it is daily blogs. The group that puts this site together has a very critical eye for clothing and style or in other words, they just get it... In the clothing industry, there is just so much "stuff" out there. It is great to see a online magazine that puts time into cutting out the "stuff" and writing about the quality brands that should be recognized. Definately a good read...

It's okay to admit that we all want to be the best dressed person in a room, right? Atleast that is what I aim for, haha. Style Intimidation is what I call it. So, 5 of the best boutiques in SLC are getting together at The W to do just that. 10, Cyclesmith, Disorderly House, Fice and of course Lucky Pirate are going to battle it out with DJ's and dance music on Wednesday June 18th.

Come dance, mingle and drink to your hearts content. Music and DJ's will be provided by each participating boutique. VIP invites are available at all the boutiques listed above. These invites get you discounted admission to The W and access to a special drink menu. The BFC boys will be showing off their skills with their trick comp that night as well... Bike boys with tight cut offs, hmm, hot.

I don't know what posessd M.I.A. to come to SLC... But, whatever it was, I want to kiss her booking agent on the cheek! The show was nuts! You couldn't help but dance the whole time and have a huge smile on your face while drinks were getting thrown around and people stepping on your feet. Best time eva....

Thanks to Casey, Matt and the whole crew at The W for throwing an awesome afterparty! The dance party continued until the wee hours of the night which was a perfect ending. Enjoy a few of the pics from M.I.A. The are a little blurry, but I haven't mastered the dancing and picture taking at the sametime. Working on it though...

I am new to this whole menswear thing. My past employers have been associated with womens wear. So, taking this job, I have had to do my homework on this whole guy clothing thing. To my suprise, I am liking the guys stuff so much more than womens... But, not enough to actully wear it. Anyway back to the point. This season's Antenna Mag featured Kevin Ma of HYPEBEAST. I am sure a majority of you know what this site is. Me, on the otherhand, am new to this. I have to say that I am addicted. It mainly blogs on streetwear brands and for you that are sneaker addicts, they blog on new styles coming out. I had to make a post to our blog about Hypebeast, because Nike is releasing the Star Classic again, in updated colors. I had a pair of these in 3rd grade and loved these shoes!!! Mine were white with a red swoosh though. Just like Michael J. Fox's in Back to the Future. Enjoy the sight!!!

ARS Gallery Opening

Uh, I kind of feel dumb admitting that I went to Park City over the Sundance weekend to "hangout" and shop and maybe stalk famous people... Actually, Heather and I thought that this would be a good time to find some great outfits. I don't know what my problem is, but I can't stop finding outfits that are black. Again, that is all that we liked. So, here are some great outfits, no famous people....

This is ION....

Loved that whole outfit, wait, i guess i didn't pick all black outfits. Anyway, I loved all his layers and colors. Underneath his grey overcoat, he had a black Brooklyn zip up hoodie and then a blue button up with a tie that matched exactly. The outfit totally worked for him.

This is JAY...

The thing I liked best about him was his accent. Coolest guy and really nice to let us take his picture. I have this rule, no denim tops with denim jeans. Well, because Jay has an accent, the denim rule went out the window. I loved how he mixed colors without going overboard. On a side note, you can't see it from our pic, but homeboy had on Magenta socks...

After a whole afternoon of wandering and shopping and discretly looking for outfits, it was hard to find girls that weren't wearing UGGS, as pictured in the background. I loved her whole look and best of all NO UGGS!!!

I know that I should be busy rearranging the store, folding and what not... But, it's the holiday and I thought I would take a break from it for a few. So, from my break, I have stumbled upon a really great blog call Street Peeper. I have always been fascinated by global style. I love seeing what people are wearing around the world and getting inspiration and ideas from clothing to music. This blog is really fun to look around. It features many different cities and various blogs about what is going on in the fashion industry. I have only explored just a small portion of this sight, but I think that i will have to add a few extra minetes to my break to do some more exploring.

This is Gossip Girl here,
For all of you SLCers who don't know about the Fashion Stroll... It takes place every season on East Broadway and gives Local Designers and Boutiques a chance to expose themselves. Local vendors set up booths along the sidewalk and Boutiques along the way open their doors. Local musicians play out in the streets and free treats and coffee are handed out left and right.

This Fashion Stroll, we were thankful to have W talent donate some of their finest models and allowed us to use them to display our G-Star clothing for the fashion show. Check out pictures below of our gorgeous models...

So, coincidentally, black was the color of the night.

Andrew Naylor...cheers to you. What stood out about this outfit was the black leather blazer. We enjoyed the way that this casual outfit was dressed up with just one piece.

Jessel...in town from L.A. This outfit shows us that casual does not need to be frumpy.

Carmen...our favorite of the night. At first glance this may look like a regular black wool coat. But a closer look shows off an exaggerated high waisted tie that gives shape to the coat. P.S. we love the Hot Topic bag. An ecclectic wardrobe is always best!

Shogo Fujiwara stopped by the store today. We are featuring him because of his design accomplishemts with Filthy Gorgeous. Go check out his modular dress that shifts from a dress to a skirt to a shirt. Filthy Gorgeous can be purchased at JMR and Model Citizen (hi, Matt Monson, see you at Fashion Stroll on Dec. 7th).

Nite Lite with Jesse Walker

With the new Lucky Pirate blog we will be exposing Salt Lake's street fashion scene. Salt Lake's fashion does not disappoint. We will be making constant updates to this blog so set us as your home page!

Over the weekend we hit up Jesse Walker's Nite Lite party at the W Lounge. He drew in a huge crowd that we were lucky to be a part of. We just so happened to have our camera with us and the attendees were representing some great fashion. The music was tight and so were my pants.

It's no secret that I love San Francisco. Great vibe, Good people, insane shopping, great food. Well the heart on my I "love" SF shirt just got a few sizes bigger. Why the rejuvenated love in the great city of San Francisco???

Levi Strauss & Co. has opened "The Vault" on Levi history. Located in the first floor of their corporate headquarters is 900 sq ft. of denim heaven. Items on display include; catalogs from almost every decade since Levi produced their first pair of jeans. The true story of the 501(R), as well as an original pair from the 19th century!
